Breastfeeding my twins

When I had twins, I wanted to feed them at the breast, just as I had my first two singletons. I reached out to my local La Leche League Group early and had a plan. But when the babies couldn’t latch or have a successful feed, I had to turn to pumping. My La Leche League Leaders gave unwavering support, advice, and encouragement as I built my supply and tried to move the babies to the breast. They were a source of knowledge and empathy at in-person meetings, home visits, and WhatsApp messages.

Ultimately, it didn’t happen for us. I was heartbroken, but I still had a way to feed my babies breastmilk and La Leche League helped me realise that and move forward.

We’ve just completed our journey of 14 months of exclusive breastfeeding by exclusively pumping. It was beyond challenging and I’m eternally grateful to the kind women in my group. They are selflessly invested in supporting mothers in this incredible way!
